The problem might not be your sales emails.
It might have started months before you tried to sell anything.
When someone has a big email list that isn't making much money, it's tempting to think:
"I need better sales emails."
Maybe.
But I'd look further upstream first.
Are these people actually paying attention to you?
Because if someone joined your list six months ago, downloaded your freebie and has barely opened an email since, the world's greatest sales email probably isn't going to help much.
They need to see it first.
That's why so much of Emailtopia happens before the sale.
I want someone to join my list under the right context and then develop a habit of:
Opening.
Reading.
Clicking.
We're building attention before we ever need to cash that attention in.
That's why I think of email as an ecosystem.
Your lead magnet affects what happens in your Immersion Series.
Your Immersion Series affects what happens in your newsletters.
All of that affects what happens when you eventually promote something.
You can't completely neglect the first three stages and expect a clever subject line at the end to rescue everything.
If your list isn't making money, don't only look at the moment you ask for the sale.
Look at everything that happened before it.
Before blaming the copy, check your sending setup against Google's sender guidelines.
