Personally, I like to offer people emails.
Which sounds painfully obvious when you're trying to build an email list.
But think about how most lead magnets work.
You offer someone a checklist, ebook, PDF or some other free resource.
They give you their email address.
You give them the thing.
And then... you start emailing them.
There's a problem with that.
They didn't necessarily sign up because they wanted your emails.
They wanted the free thing.
And if it's a 37-page ebook, there's a decent chance it gets thrown into the great digital drawer of:
"I'll check that out later."
Which usually means never.
That's why I generally prefer using an email series as the lead magnet itself.
Someone signs up specifically because you've promised to send them something useful via email.
Then you deliver that value through their inbox.
So from the very beginning, you're encouraging the behaviour you actually want:
Open. Read. Click.
You're not trying to convince someone who downloaded a PDF three weeks ago to suddenly start paying attention to your emails.
The emails were the reason they joined in the first place.
That's exactly how my own 7-day Immersion Series works.
Instead of giving you another PDF explaining my approach to email marketing, I let you experience it through email.
Because if you're trying to build an engaged email list, I think it makes sense to start with the email.
