Absolutely not.
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is treating your email list like one giant blob of identical people.
They're not.
Different subscribers are at different points in their relationship with you.
Someone might currently be going through your Immersion Series.
Someone else might already own the thing you're about to promote.
Another person might have demonstrated interest in something completely different.
Why would I send all three people exactly the same emails?
I wouldn't.
This is where segmentation becomes incredibly useful.
Instead of asking:
"How many people can I send this promotion to?"
I'd rather ask:
"Who does it actually make sense to send this to?"
That doesn't mean every monthly promotion only goes to people who have explicitly asked to hear about that particular product.
Monthly promotions can still go to a larger eligible segment of your audience.
But we can be smarter about who we include and who we exclude.
This is also why I like behaviour-based email marketing.
What somebody does can tell us something about what they're interested in.
And the more relevant our emails become, the less email marketing feels like standing in a room shouting the same thing at everybody.
Your email list might contain thousands of people.
You don't have to treat them like they're all the same person.
